 2020 MEMORIALS

 Kaleb Holder

Kaleb passed away at the age of 12 years old.  Kaleb was diagnosed with a very rare illness called Adrenoleukodystrophy.  This illness affects 1 in 18,000.  It is often misdiagnosed.  Many states do not include an ADL test for newborns, if caught during newborn testing ADL can be treated.  Unfortunately Kaleb was not tested.  His symptoms began just passed his 8th birthday.  April of 2016 his family was told he would digress very quickly.  His dream of Disneyworld was fulfilled April 2016, he was already declining.  Kaleb was in hospice soon after that and our little warrior fought until February 2020 when he passed.

Tim Hunger

Tim was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma when he was 15 years old.  His dream was for a custom MacBook Pro.  Tim chose all the specs for his MacPro.  Fortunately, Tim’s dream was fulfilled in February 2020, right in the beginning of the pandemic which caused a slight delay in delivery.  Tim, a sweet young man, passed away on June 19, 2020 at age 16, six months after he was diagnosed.

 Sheila Chunko

Sheila was diagnosed with  Spastic Quadraplegic Cerebral Palsy.  Sheila’s dream of Disneyworld was fulfilled in 2007 when she was 7 years old.  She was a mainstay at all Dream Come True events.  Sheila passed away on 9/14/2020 a month before her 20th birthday.

Jarrett Bergey

Jarrett was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  Jarrett had a memorable trip to Disneyworld in 1991 when he was 11 years old in March 1991.  Jarrett passed away at age 40 on July 30, 2020.

Kylee Roman

Kylee was diagnosed with Gastric Adenocarcinoma at age 19.  Kylee graduated from high school in May.  Due to the pandemic Kylee’s dream of Disneyworld could not be fulfilled.  Kylee passed away August 8, 2020, with her family by her side,  6 months after diagnosis on her 19th birthday.

6 Simple Steps to Granting a Dream

We request a letter with the child’s name, age, address, telephone number, parent’s name and the child’s diagnosis. We forward a medical authorization to the parents for signature and doctor information.
To determine the child’s medical eligibility, Dream Come True, after receiving a medical authorization from the parents, contacts the child’s medical team. The child’s medical team completes our medical determination questionnaire which is reviewed by Dream Come True to establish if the illness is a medical diagnosis that is life threatening or has seriously altered their lifestyle. Doctors verification determines a child’s eligibility.
Once a child is deemed medically eligible, two of our dream team volunteers meet with the family in the child’s home. At this meeting the children use their imagination to create the experience of a lifetime. Their dream is born!
The dream team prepares a report to present to our board of directors about the child and their dream for approval.
After board approval our team of volunteers work on fulfilling the dream.
To refer a child please see our on line form under the tab Dream Services menu Referral Form
