Become a Volunteer

Since Dream Come True is mostly a volunteer organization, we are always looking for hard working, committed people to help. Each volunteer must submit a volunteer form and $10.00 for a background check. Any volunteer that will be helping with the children must have a background check completed.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Referral Committee - Volunteers work in pairs where they are responsible for interviewing a child who has been determined medically eligible for a dream. The interview process takes place in the child’s home. The volunteers prepare a report about the child and their dream request which is sent to the board of directors for approval.

Fulfillment Committee - Volunteers work in pairs to fulfill the child’s dream. The committee meets once a month to assign the approved dreams and discuss those that are in process. This committee consists of dedicated people who are responsible for actually planning the fulfillment of the dreams.

Special Events - Throughout the year Dream Come True hosts two fund raisers where we need volunteers to help make them successful. In May we host our annual Ride or Stride where participants either ride their bicycle or walk. They pay a registration fee and are encouraged to seek sponsorships to sponsor them in the event. There are always great incentive and raffle prizes donated. The Ride or Stride is always held in May at the Bob Rodale Fitness Park. The walk is a 5 mile walk and we offer 3 different bicycle courses, a 59 mile, 30 mile, 20 mile or a 10 mile ride. This has always been a successful event for Dream Come True and all participants have a great time.

Our other event is the annual Telethon. The first Monday in December RCN TV4 televises a 4 hour telethon live from the Westgate Mall in Bethlehem. Dream Come True invites school groups, service organizations, businesses or anyone who raises funds for us and would like to speak about how they raised the money. Dream recipients are interviewed to speak about their illness and their dream. There are also great auction items viewers can bid on.

Many times throughout the year organizations or business will hold an event to benefit Dream Come True and ask us to supply the volunteers. Events such as plays, golf tournaments, car washes and others.
